I think one of the biggest lies we’re sold is that the safest life is the one with a paycheck attached to it. Get the degree. Get the job. Work hard. Stay grateful. And if you’re miserable.. Well… at least you have “security.” 🙃 I bought into that too. I had the career and still felt financially stretched. I had the “security” and still hated how much of my motherhood belonged to a schedule. Then I thought.. Was I asking God to change my life while refusing to question the life I’d been told I was supposed to want? WHEW. What I found wasn’t some secret code to easy money. I found skills I could learn. Work I could do differently. Income that wasn’t dependent on clocking into the same building for the same number of hours every week. And most importantly I learned that “safe” and “called” aren’t always the same thing. Today I’m 31, home raising my babies, and I’ve made $9K so far this month in the cracks of motherhood. But I share it because somewhere there’s another woman who thinks the only responsible option is the one slowly draining the life out of her. Maybe God isn’t asking you to blow up your life tomorrow.
