Just get licensed. It’s not hard, and then you are covered. You may even learn how to use this radio and know how to talk to the operator on the other end in emergencies.

Gmrs(non repeater channels), FRS, Murs all with low power requires no licenses! if you want long rang you will need a specific licenses depending on the frequency you want to transmit on.

you can tune into the frequencies of walky talkies, and cb radios, most everything else is restricted from what I understand. wish the gov would make it easier to comply with laws lmao
