I run Intellij directly from a Ubuntu distro using wslg, it works fine but the white borders are annoying to look at and sometimes resizing the windows crashes the remote desktop entirely

Just use Linux. Than this is just ctrl-t, docker run -rm -it kali:latest. Its way faster
