Moved from LA to Midwest recently. I really really miss the fresh produce. The cilantro here is so sad. We are surrounded by a sea of industrial corn & soybean fields.

Moving from Montana to California the produce difference was mind blowing. It doesn’t even taste good in mt most of the time it’s under or over ripe always.

I live in a tiny town in Kansas and recently went to Las Vegas and groceries in Las Vegas ON the strip were cheaper than in my small town

Just moved to CA and drive by a place that sells 7 avocados for $1. My mind exploded.

My coworker dropped a tomato on the ground & forgot about it, the next year, it was a new tomato plant. I live north of Fresno about 2 hours

In Denver the groceries are super redlined and all my nearby markets always have moldy produce but the one just a few miles away has a fancy cheese

Massachusetts is so expensive, but I'd much rather be poor or unemployed here, than in Missouri, where my parents live.

my grandparents' house in CA has a grapefruit tree in the backyard. here in CO, I don't know anyone here with fruit trees in their yards. some have berry bushes here, but more as a novelty than to eat

In Indiana in the very city you mentioned we live in wonderful abundance in the summer many of us have gardens but as soon as winter hits the prices go up and our gardens are gone.

I’m also from Fresno and was shocked when I moved to Texas (for work, don’t attack me Texans) and the produce in stores was more expensive and not as fresh 😅

Seriously. I grew up in Southern California, and even way up in the boonies we'd be overwhelmed with freshes. When we moved, even out near dairy farms & farmland, the food deserts are intense.

Can the homegrown fruit not go to houseless people and shelters in your area? We have that service in Toronto.
