@philosophyminis: #Daoism is one of the oldest recorded philosophies, and it belongs to a very different tradition to that inherited from the ancient #greeks Daoism is all about finding #harmony in life and with the universe. The #dao translates as “The Way,” and it’s often compared to the flow of a river. Like a river, the Dao is what carries and directs us all and we are just boats pushed along its current. You can row against the current, but that’s when life is hard and to be happy is to go with the flow. That going with the flow is known as #WuWei. Wu Wei is when we let go and let life carry us along. And it’s not just some lazy duvet day and a Netflix binge, in fact is often the very opposite. Wu Wei is when we appreciate and recognize the pull of forces far greater than us. It’s to walk the path that opens up and to push the door that gives. In the same way that #islam means “surrender” to the power of #allah , Wu Way is to surrender to the great currents of the Dao. It’s to take action, but not by our plan. Daoism is different to a lot of the #philosophy in the Western tradition. It’s not about answers and conclusions, but listening to a voice deep inside. Whether you call it gut feeling or intuition or divine intervention or #fate or the Dao, the idea is the same. Sometimes in life there are forces beyond our power and beyond understanding. And sometimes it’s better just to go with the flow.
