Literally! I couldn’t get any financial aid because my parents made too much money. But my parents are not the ones paying back the loan! 😡

The more concerning issue is corporate debt. So many companies are over leveraged & used their debt for stock buybacks & dividends rather than growing their business. That is a much bigger problem.

I've said this for years and colleges don't even train for employment. Just book knowledge and testing

Amen! You used to pay for college education to get ACCESS to information. Now the phone in my back pocket, I can take Harvard courses. The game has changed. There is no reason for edu to be this $$

I’ve seen that some companies have purchased loans for more than their base value. So they want the interest. And they will never allow them to be forgiven.

I’m currently 11 years in on a Sallie Mae loan that I’ve paid the principle on 3x over. My interest is now topping out at a cool 17%. Every time I pay a major chunk, my interest rate sky rockets.

I totally agree with you. I think it's wise to spend 18-25 shadowing, interning, traveling, learning who you are.

This is why I’m having my company pay for my electrical engineering degree. I’m making 75k as an electronics technician and own my own house at 26. Associates degrees are a significantly better path

i don’t think this is true given the number of loans that have a cosigner. the cosigner’s assets (house, etc) can always be seized.

I think they can do it because you cannot default your student loan debt, which reduces the risk of default

The state of GA paid (completely) for my masters degree. In return I worked in public school system for 2 years. Great experience. I’m not sure how many states do that.

“Buying a degree” exactly. I was in private university (RISD) and they had some deal where you could take all your electives at Brown, I was shocked at how easy the courses were compared to 🧵

I like a lot of your content because college is not necessary but it does make things easier and can be done at a low cost if you work, stay instate, and don’t live on campus.

Oh I saw all of this. I do have a useless degree now, I mean I can write a book because of it. But the paper is useless. And I was charged way too much and have low paying jobs. I didn’t want college.

No matter what you do, your job will be difficult at some point in time. It’s not always going to be fun. Push through the bad times to get to the good times. But you need money to pay bills and live
