@yourmusiceducation: From Soap Operas to Pop Superstardom: The Davy Jones Story
The rise of Davy Jones from his humble beginnings to becoming a member of the world's #1 band is a remarkable story. This pint-sized powerhouse may have faced bullying in high school, but he soon found himself stealing hearts across generations with his infectious charm and quick wit.
Did you know that this British sensation went from training as a jockey to television superstardom and chart-topping success with The Monkees? It all kicked off on the set for The Ed Sullivan Show. In fact, Jones’s popularity inadvertently led to another British icon, David Bowie, changing his name to avoid confusion.
But Davy's influence didn't stop in the ‘60s. MTV's decision to air Monkees reruns in the 1980s sparked a resurgence in popularity, cementing Davy's status as a pop culture icon for Gen-Xers.
Join us for a nostalgic trip through the life and career of the man who brought a little bit of Manchester magic to the world stage. Whether you remember him from your youth or are discovering his charm for the first time, this video promises to be a groovy ride through music history.

He's why Walter Koenig got the job as Chekov on Star Trek. Roddenberry wanted a cute guy with the same hair as David Jones.

I had such a crush on him as a kid, based strictly on the Monkees reruns in the 80s 😅

I loved the musical Oliver. This doesn’t surprise me, as Davy Jones is/was so talented.

This reminds me of a time, where a 45 RPM record would literally be the serial box. You cut it out and you played it. I can’t remember. But I know if it was a multiple choice. Question, I will get it

Also, if you continue with the Monkees videos, a little tidbit: Jack Nicholson was in Head. He also helped write it. A fun movie that was meant to tear down the Monkees' machine.

When I saw the Ed Sullivan clip from Oliver I recognized it immediately. Why? Because like every other girl in the US I was waiting for the Beatles to sing!!! I wasn’t much of a Monkees fan. BEATLES!!

Phil Collins was also in the London cast with Davy Jones. I will always wonder why Davy Jones didn't get to do a cast recording of the show. That makes zero sense to me since he was their go to Dodger
