I like the suede precisely because they’re soft. I have both the suede and the leather. I my favorites are the suedes. And yes they do get darker with age but I’ve never had the buckle rust.

I’ve had the suede ones for about 5 years and I love them! But mine are the brown color, so staining’s not really a thing for me. Also, I don’t care when they start to look lived in- still comfy

I love my incredibly worn taupe suede birks. I got a new pair of the same taupe suede and I prefer my beat up old worn out ones!
