@premiumturkish: Imagine. You’re in Türkiye, walking the streets late at night. No one is outside. You see a man on the ground, holding his foot. He can’t move. He doesn’t see you but is yelling, hoping someone will hear him: “Yardım edin! Yardım edin!” Now, what does he say? “Help!” Right? You get closer. He sees you. Now he says: “Lütfen! Lütfen yardım edin!” You recognize “lütfen” means “please.” You’ve learned it before. Now you’re sure he’s saying, “Help, please!” This is the power of context. When you know the context and some of the words, everything becomes comprehensible input. Input +1 = Comprehensible Input Lütfen + yardım edin = Lütfen, yardım edin! Your brain fills in the blanks. This is how your parents taught you your native language and how you learned it. This is the method I use in my VLOG-based audio lessons. In Michael’s Story (30 Episodes / 40.5 hours), Michael, an American, visits Izmir, Türkiye, and its surroundings for 30 days. He takes 1:1 classes from a Turkish teacher (where you get reminders of what you’ve learned in the video lessons) and goes to speaking clubs to practice Turkish (preparing you for real-life questions in Türkiye). He records his journey for 30 days through VLOGs (making you feel like you’re right there with him), describing every step he takes (teaching you how to speak like him). But how exactly do I use the Comprehensible Input in these VLOG-based audio lessons? I give you the context beforehand, explaining in English what Michael will do. Your brain creates a scene, a picture. Then Michael speaks in Turkish, and I translate it into English. Michael repeats what he said. This is where the magic happens. Your brain combines the scene with the phrase. When you are in the same situation, your brain automatically recalls the phrase from memory, and you say it effortlessly. I also integrated the Spaced Repetition System with this method... Michael will repeat himself often. You’ll hear the most useful phrases many times throughout the course. But you won’t get bored because he’ll do it naturally within the story. Sounds good? 🎁 Comment Turkish for a sample lesson. #turkish #türkçe #turkishlanguage
