I have told both my girls this. They both decided they still want a degree. They are paying their own way with no student loans because I refuse to let them. They are living at home though. I tried.

While I agree with what you said, saying only 7% requires a degree is misleading. By law you may not need a degree but that doesn’t change the fact that your resume will be thrown out if you dont.

Why is no one talk about how signing for college loans for your child affect your own credit and you’re open to buy ,you’re stuck with this debt and they may not go into field they graduated for.

I’m a HUGE proponent of college buts gotten out of control and I’m so glad to see employers are starting to back off on requiring that 4 yr degree. It was never right.

My college education for respiratory therapy was $10,000. Technical community college. AAS. Ppl still encourage me to go back even though there is no increase in pay for degrees it’s just a “leg up”

Higher Ed employee- Very true. I wish more parents had this conversation. I HATE the cases where the student gets in, can't afford it, then drops out after 2 years. All the debt. No degree.

I like what you’re stating here, but in my field I needed trade school to get in. Ok, nbd. To move up though—where the big money is—you do need a degree. So here I am working a full time job+school
