Real advice. Take the negative equity. Roll it into a lease. I sell cars for living. Find a vehicle with enough rebates to cover your negative equity. Don’t buy luxury always lease luxury.

SQ5 Owner here. 2018-2019’s are known for rocker arms issues at high mileage. Early 2018 models are KNOWN for premature failures :( sorry about this man. Get it stolen or something 😭😭

If Audi is going to pay half of the $40,000, why wouldn’t they give you $20,000 to purchase another Audi. WIN/WIN

2018 sq5/S5 had the 3.0 v6 that were notorious for rocker arm failure. I guarantee you this is what happened

Sorry my AF bro. This is a common issue with Audis. It usually happens at 60K miles. A lot of people replace the turbos and remove the oil screens. I got rid of my Audi S6 for this same reason.

You could get a used engine with a 90 day warranty and have an independent shop install. Should be less than 12k total

Take the 15k hit. You will be out of that money regardless. I would rather owe that towards a Toyota.

you can fix it for $8500, buy a 2012 toyota corolla with 300k miles and it will be safe for the next 200k miles

If Audi is going in for half that's a red flag to me and they're assuming responsibility either on behalf of the dealership or independently. I'd get an attorney and get them to cover all of it.

coming from an Audi owner your first mistake was buying a Audi with 80k miles. it's an S model bound to be driven aggressively by previous owner who probably leased it lol

Used engine and have a independent shop install it. Then trade it in for a different car.

🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢 the math ain't mathin. Who would even think of spending $40k to fix a $20k car?

Is there any failure attributed to perhaps the previous owner/abuse/lack or proper care and maintenance? What actually failed to cause this?

I can’t guarentee anything but I used to work there. Call Audi customer care and ask them if they can escalate your case and review for goodwill

Get a second opinion. We repair these engines all the time. Aside from rocker repair they seem great. Might be fixable. Yes metal in oil isnt good, but its worth examining deeper to see the true dmg
