the Josephina is 160 due to her being a release collector edition in her original outfit!! they are definitely still pricey at 115 ish but def go with a Wellie Wisher to start ! those are $60!

I’m 22 and they were like $105 but that was still the most expensive item I knew about. Any time I heard a big number I would calculate how many american girl dolls you could buy with that 😅

Look on Facebook marketplace!! There’s always people selling them on there for cheaper. You can take her to the AG store to pick out outfits/accessories and go to the cafe & it’ll be just as fun!!

I would reccomend buying a used/vintage one. The quality has gone down hill in the past few years, but the ones from the 2000s are amazing quality worth the price

The truly me dolls are cheaper ($115) and you can usually buy them in stores, online you can filter by the doll appearance and if you live near the store you can get the dolls hair styled to match her

Some local libraries have them that you can borrow like you borrow a book! They’re extra special because they come with letters about what kind of adventures they got up to!

American Girls target market is really elementary schoolers and they’re priced that way. It’s supposed to be a toy for a child old enough to care for it properly. The Bitty Baby dolls are cheaper

I would say wait till she’s 6! I loved these dolls growing up and I’m 16 so that wasn’t that long ago but they are definitely not really for 2 year olds

Definitely wait for the American girl until she's older and can really take care of it. I got my bitty baby at 7, and my first classic doll at 8. I absolutely cherished those dolls, played with them daily, and they're still in fantastic condition like 14 years later 🫶🏻

As a nanny who's worked with a ton of kids, I think 5/6 should be the minimum age for AG dolls (given that they can respect their toys.) They're a luxury item!

AG is pretty easy to find on the resale market, I see used dolls all the time on marketplace. That might be a good place to start since your daughter is young.

American girl dolls are designed for older girls. The high price point in due to the high quality and detail of the dolls and collection. Bitty babies are geared for 2 year olds.

my life as dolls are much more affordable and have some amazing sets not to mention sooooo many outfit packs. my niece is obsessed with the aquarium and oddly enough the toilet from the bathroom set😂
