I level my players like every session or two until like lvl 5, since most them get their big stuff around then. After that depends on combat (I'm bad at combat so they win a lot anyways)

As a solid believer in experienced based systems I have no problem with level ups. Leveling up as a "reward" for clearing a certain part of the story seems weird to me.

They intimidated (asked if they would lvl up) and I accidentally said yes. Not a problem. I just need to throw stones instead of snowballs🙂

My campaign is preplanned so my players level up every session! I always make sure to include a battle to make sure they feel like they deserve it!
