Growing up in California, our cat wouldn't walk on the ground the day an earthquake hit. He'd jump from the couch, to a chair, to a table. If you put him on the floor, he would scramble to get off.

Cats are pretty awesome at early detection of lots of stuff. When I’m wearing noise canceling headphones I keep an eye on the cat to see if he reacts to anything I can’t hear.

Animals can feel things before they happen.All kinds of weather and nature events.When I lived in acali, I knew when we'd get a earthquake about 30 seconds or so,it's like a shift in air, it was weird

The one and only earthquake we’ve had, both my cats acted 100% normal before, after, and DURING the shaking. I think they’re defective. 😂

I live in San Diego in the middle of the night I was woken up by cats. I thought they were fighting becadue they sounded angry. Seconds later there was small earthquake. so yes I believe it.

I miss my cat. He could hear things in the middle of the night and alerted me when people are at the door before they got there. Great watch cat.

Earthquakes take time to travel from the epicenter to the surface, a lot of animals can hear the deep rumbling of the P waves moving up which I’d imagine is deeply unsettling for them. Also why birds freak out right before a storm, they can sense the sudden drop in air pressure.

There’s various types of seismic waves. Animals usually sense the P waves, which are the fastest traveling waves before the S waves that carry all the magnitude.

If you know cats, you can tell by their demeanor they hear something. And if you google it, you'll learn that's what's happening here. Earthquakes emit inaudible sounds (to humans) before they're felt

nah, if you lay down on the floor, you can sense the tremor before the shaking, I feel it once, 40 sec before earthquake, I feel "weird" vibration, it's different than big truck vibration, since....
