That was kind of obvious since the beginning. The update never saw a Q.A. person.

Well technically, companies who use crowdstrike did the same thing. Didn’t they they test. in a non-prod environment before rolling out to their prod

They aren’t saying they went straight to prod. They are saying they should push to prod in stages giving time for a settlement period in between instead of pushing the full update at once.

My company’s developers have always been dead set against any staging environment. They develop locally and push to prod. They tell me it’s how modern CD works. 🤷♀️

What’s more worrying is how they told everyone how to bypass by safe mode boot..

yeah that's bad, but when the core of your business surrounds a kernel module, you'd think the core design wouldn't read a file while in kernel mode

many companies can invest in testing and qa..so to cut costs..they test on prod..the funny part is CEOs are clueless about this..CTO or CIO try to cut costs in this way to impress CEO😏

From personal experience, procedures getting less strict overtime to meet deadlines happens everywhere until it causes a ruckus. What matters is how the management reacts in consequence.

i think it means that their costumes should have a stage intake of their new updates. like prod takes the -1week update channel and non prod takes the latest.
