@ben_yanes: I never personally loved “shrugging” exercises until I started integrating a half-row motion along with the shrug (this motion will blast the middle traps with a sprinkle of rear delt and upper traps, too). Make sure you’re cuing the shrug upward + backward - rather than only upward - and that you’re pulling from the elbows, too.
