I was in Lidl when someone ran out with stuff, the cashier in front of me went “I’m not even going to bother, I don’t get paid enough for that” and kept scanning 😂

I literally had to sign a paper stating I would not chase after 'lifters cause it's "A safety hazard." so take it, i could lose my job if i try to stop them

Also some stores (like when i worked at RiteAid) said not to confront shoplifters, only report after they leave the store or you get fired. Cant even ask to see their bag when the theft alarm buzzes

every time I've worked retail one of the first things you're told is to not chase shoplifters. just mention it to management

When I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond, they told us that they would prefer if we didn’t chase down shoplifters cos it would cost them too much money if they had to pay our medical bills if we got hurt

a just used to speak to our local shop lifter 🤣 big jars of coffee down his jumper telling me how we're insured and he was right 🤣 probably throw more out in waste than they steal tbh
