While I agree that the whole thing should not have happened and you should get something for your time, the math isn't mathing for the actual cost. Origional flight was $400, new flight was $1,000 (2)

The DOT complaint form is really short and can be done easily. Definitely do it as a checklist item, but you probably won’t get a response by that alone

I think the only thing I can think of to prove it wasn’t you is ask for the exact time/which flight this occurred on and show you weren’t even on the flight or whatever the case is.
