my dad came from England when he was a 13 year old and he never went back to England until like 40 years later... growing up I felt like he sounded Australian, I moved out of home over 20 years ago and when I would call home to check in with the folks, I noticed he had still had a very slight english accent... he's in his 70's now and British people would say he has an Australian accent, I would say he sounds Australian with a slight British accent.... my mum born and raised in Australia and indigenous was fostered by a British family, I grew up with them as my extended family. so even though I was born in Australia and identify as Australian lol I grew up and were essentially Raised by Brits lol 🤣 I have never been outside of Australia though...

Happens to some Aussies in the uk too. We replace “but” with “like” at the end of sentences .

As an Aussie who’s watched heaps of UK shows cos I have English parents, I rate the “you alright” or just simply “alright with a wee head nod” as a way of greeting someone and saying hello
