I'd probably turn it into an alcove/bookcase in the other room and make the fire place the focal point here. But I also love the idea of a hidden door

Make it a flat wall as the fireplace will look better with walls either side. You said the other room was going to have a pool table so it doesn’t matter if you walk past the toilet, it’s not a bedrio
