Let me be clear. There are incredible parents raising incredible kids, and there are outstanding educators doing everything they can. But after 24 years as a teacher, principal, and superintendent, I’ve watched expectations change. Teachers are expected to manage increasingly challenging behaviors, meet every academic need, improve test scores, and somehow do it all with limited time and resources. Accountability matters. For students. For parents. For teachers. For administrators. Supporting teachers doesn’t mean excusing poor teaching. And expecting parental involvement doesn’t mean blaming every parent. But we have to stop pretending schools can solve every problem alone.
