I'm going to show you some key tips from my cookbook so follow along :) I grew up calling it Nuoc Mam but it translates to the direct fish sauce concentrate. Technically, nuoc cham is the mixed sweet fish sauce version. Curious what you called it growing up and if it was a regional thing or if I was just never corrected as a kid hah. Before you start cooking, get this in your head: 3:1:1 ratio hot water, sugar, fish sauce! That way no matter how much you need, you got this. Sweet Fish Sauce Dipping Sauce 👌. Know how to make this and you are already on your way to cooking Vietnamese dishes like a pro. Everyone has their own version but you can adjust to taste with this base recipe. I always said like u when growing up, nuoc mam,my dad was from Qui Nhon and my mom is from Da Nang, so mid-VN.Only heard nuoc cham,later yrs from an authentic Vietnamese restaurant😅
