I think it’s crazy why we can’t see news on META? Like I am not sure what the purpose was- it felt like it was affecting our rights to media and it felt like censorship

I work at a community radio station. We used to be able to post information about storms, road closures, local interests. Our Facebook has been bricked

The amount of misinformation out there has definitely increased since this act. It’s going to be very concerning when we approach the election.

In Australia they made a law that Facebook couldn’t ban news. Why doesn’t Canada just copy that?

I actually like the bill - it is good to 🇨🇦media to get the push - but meta and X are being big 💩holes and blocking it. If they didn’t more 🇨🇦news would be out there but US corp control our news!

As a former media guy, I can tell you that media was broken a long time ago. Mostly because the CRTC let it happen.

Feel like this has been the general theme of this liberal government - doing what seems to be right on paper but then having it backfire once implemented

I wonder if certain media outlets are taking advantage of this in some way. Posting increasingly outrageous and polarizing headlines, knowing that people wont see the actual article.

I don’t think it’s the governments job to help the media to make money. I think it’s the media’s job to adapt to modern times. I hate this piece of legislation.

Shocking. Another liberal erroneous plan. “Good” intentions by the Canadian government are the example of what not to do in a country. Here’s a thought. Less government, more real people.
