@the_green_bird_brigade: While I am ABSOLUTELY NOT for the buying or selling of birds in pet stores, I feel I made the right decision in this case. Marley is not even a year old yet and has already experienced his/her first rehoming. My hope is to keep him/her from falling into the rehoming cycle that so many birds do. The average pet parrot is rehomed up to 7 times in their lifetime, and most are rehomed for the 1st time before the age of 2. Please keep this in mind when considering getting a bird. They are not easy and, contrary to the many cute videos you see, they are not all fun. Parrots are difficult to keep as pets. Many suffer from hormone and behavioral issues, which are common causes for their frequent rehoming. Do your research. These guys are a long-term, life-long commitment. #parrots #birds #rescue #conures
