I appreciate the deterrence 🤭 this sorta grammar was pretty common in use among my Japanese friends in informal situations tho. also interesting to hear about ranuki being considered wrong

I contest the え thing as well. すげー conveys the exact tone I want way too often 😁

ねぇ so common in anime and manga that sometimes it feels like writing ない just isn’t even allowed

does anyone ever actually use the third form irl? like even counting criminals? cuz I imagine the intentionality of using a whole separate form would probably come across as really cringe

I always found it interesting that stop signs say "止まれ". Probably bc it's shorter, but I was wondering why it was being so standoffish lol

Self taught most of the Japanese I know but I have never heard or noticed the yagaru form before 😱 and given the context, I’m not surprised lol I will listen out for it 👀

Really good video but I wanted to say about the 冷え part, it’s fine to use this form when talking to yourself, also words like 寒い can be 寒ぃ(サミィ)

Now im actually laughing at the idea of a really pompous noble in fancy attire wanting to express their frustration without being vulgar, so they use "-yagarimasu" 😂

lol I always confuse yagaru form with --tagaru (as in, the one I think is used for observing the wishes/desires of others? i.e 飲みたがる for "seems like they want to drink")

If you want to be more casual when saying 寒い or 面白い you can just cut the い and extend the last vowel さむー おもしろー

lol me and my Japanese friends (in their 20s) have definitely used the えthing, not all of the time joking. Also most of them used ranuki all the time so I'm also expecting a shift there
