Could they not say ‘do you have a specific concern regarding these symptoms?’ or similar. Rather than making the patient feel like they’re stupid for being there, cos that’s how that question makes

my 4yo has had pain urinating for the last 2 wks with clear dip sticks I said I was concerned it was coming from her kidneys, I've been sent away with laxatives and no tests done 😭

I think it's also useful if the issue is quite vast and could have many causes. A patient could help the doctor find the root cause quicker/more efficiently. (1/2)

I’d rather be asked because I’ve tried telling the dr that an injury is the same as a previous where it required surgery and they just dismiss me and refuse to check the history 1/2

it's a bit like when they ask "what would you like me to do". I work in personalised care, so I understand the intent, but a lot of the time it comes across as a bit belligerent 😂

I like it when GPs ask and take me seriously. Got fibromyalgia and I cannot expect my GP to read every medical study out there - but I keep up to date on them 😅 Gives us stuff to try

This is all well and good but I told them what I thought it was and it took 14 years to get a diagnosis, all it took was 1 scan for them to see it 🙄

I’d avoid saying “have you Dr Googled anything” just because it might give them the impression you think they’re a hypochondriac. If they’re comfortable they’ll tell you what they’ve Googled.

I found a lump and my GP asked me why I wanted it checked, and I was just, like, what. I'm here because every single person on the planet has always told me I'm always supposed to get lumps checked.
