Yea in my state in Aus we have so many nuances in the law for age of consent for this reason which is great but also kinda icky that we have to have them.

there's still the issue of the child marriage laws which is fucking disgusting loophole that creepy men can use to grape little girls legally. so long as they can get the parents on board and some religous communities if the creep is wealthy and a leader in the church well that's all it can take

age of consent should apply to 20 and under only and it should also have a year gap stipulation. that way there is 0 confusion

the laws that say the 2 year or 3 years are called romo and Juliet laws in some places that say basically if you are in the age of consent (for adults to be with) and your partner is 2 y younger 👍

I always saw it as a 16-year-old can consent with another 16-year-old so it always confused me when people try to say a 16-year-old can consent with an 18+ year old

In my state in Australia age of consent is 16, but also someone aged 12-16 can consent to a person up to 2 years older. so it looks suspiciously like the law here is to protect adults.
