Seeing what some contractors and trades people put out there for work I’d say some of them shouldn’t be home inspectors. 😂 I started at 14 in construction and bounced around in a few jobs in and out while doing handyman work on the side when I wasnt directly in the construction field. Went to college for culinary of all things. I personally hated drywall and roofing the most from all the things I did.

As a home inspector in Texas since 2005 I can tell you getting a license is not easy. I didn’t have a background in construction and had engineers say they learned stuff from me during an inspection.

inspection is more of a safety thing but this makes me think of how ridiculous it would be for someone to say a food critic has no right to an opinion if they've never cooked in a resturaunt or something

Fair enough . However in my parts I watched a lot of tech guys get into the industry that had no concept of structure. They passed the courses however after they still had no clue of what is behind the drywall. That leads to poor inspections because they don’t know . Not all were like that but many in my area were like that
