as a cosmo student, it is genuinely about face shape... in the cosmo world there is a "perfect face shape" (stupid ik) like for women it's oval. so when we cut hair we do it in a way that will give the illusion of that "perfect" face shape. a haircut has to suit your face shape bc it can better or worsen the appearance by so much.
