I think this may be a regional thing. Where I live a Hot Beef is an open-faced roast beef sandwich smothered in gravy.

The sodium content has me retaining water just watching this. Fun Fact: Growing up and spending the week at my Grandmas, she would serve us OJ in the small glass jars saved from dried beef that were kept as glassware.
