@torikubu_explores: I have grown to love wasawasa over time and even appreciate it more after being involved in the cooking process. It isn’t typically part of my palate according to where I’m from but I have refused to put myself in a box with regards to food and as such, I’m determined to explore all other meals from different parts of Ghana and once I love them indulge in them and learn everything there is to know! I always had vague knowledge about wasawasa and didn’t know what it tasted like or looked like until last year, when I tried for the first time. As a Waala girl living in Accra, you could ask me about any meal from the upper west/Greater Accra and I would provide an answer but I realized if I was asked about anywhere else I’d be fumbling… hence, I made it my mission to explore other meals from other cultures to not only educate myself and find out whether I liked it or not but to document them as well. Wasawasa is eaten like “Zongo rice” … with some cooked beans, salad, spaghetti, fish / meat/wele, flavored oil (stew) and shito. The texture when eating is similar to couscous but isn’t as fluffy or chewy…. It’s unique in its own way and easy to enjoy! The combination of all the other accoutrements makes it very filling and flavorful. On its own it tastes good because of the flavored oil and salt added.. but combined with everything else, it tastes even better! Are you willing to try it? #streetfood #northernfood #wasawasa #ghanaianfoodculture #torikubuexplores #streetfoodghana #northernfoodculture🇬🇭

it's not always yam peels, using the peels is just a cheaper and sustainable way for most homes. The actual yam flesh is used as well. — it's yam flour.
