@vt.physics: PSI stands for pounds per square inch and is a unit of pressure or stress in the Imperial system of measurement. It quantifies the amount of force applied over a specific area. A horse's jaw and teeth are quite powerful, designed to handle the tough and fibrous plants they consume, such as grasses and hay. The strength of a horse's bite can be surprisingly high, approximately 500 PSI. A horse's bite can cause significant injury to a human, not just due to the force but also due to the sharpness of their incisors. While they generally don't use their teeth aggressively, if provoked, their bite can be strong enough to break bones or cause deep wounds. When comparing the jaw strength of a horse to that of a pit bull, there are some notable differences due to the animals' distinct diets, lifestyles, and evolutionary adaptations. Pit bulls are known for their strong bite, with estimates suggesting a bite force of around 235 to 300 PSI. Unlike horses, pit bulls and other dogs are carnivores, and their bite strength is adapted for gripping, tearing, and crushing meat and bone. The shape of their jaw, along with their sharp canine teeth, is optimized for delivering force efficiently during a bite. #science #horses #pitbulldog #psi

I stupidly got myself bit by a horse once (not one of these ones), I had teeth marks for DAYS and a big ass bruise both through a thick jumper. They’re nothing to mess with.
