@cluelessgardening: Here is day 5… i am not too sure if this is the consistency i am going for. But, i am still going to give it a try! Any tips are welcomed! Should i give it more water, less water? Gimme your thoughts! #fyp #FoodTok #sourdoughbread #sourdoughstarter #howtomakesourdough #howtomakesourdoughstarter #foodtook #backyardgarden #urbanhomestead

i don’t have a scale so i use old baby bottles😂 but i started doing 3oz of starter, 6oz of flour and around 4oz of water and mine started to thrive off that

I keep my starter a lot less runny than that, closer to biscuit batter.

when it’s super runny it’s okay to only add flour to get the consistency that you want!

After that last feed. At the end of the video it looks like a better consistency. Keep going. You’ve got this.

Discard more and feed more flour than you think. I would measure in grams instead so that you’re feeding the starter enough.

You want to see it grow. You can’t bake until your starter can double in 4-6 hours.

Consistency is much better but if you can get a scale, get a scale. It will make it so much easier and making your bread easier when it comes times

Just keep one cup of starter (at most) & feed it one cup of flour and a tad bit less of water. You’re not feeding it enough. You can also use wheat flour to help it.

I've tried many times to make my own starter and failed...until I watched The Sourdough Journey on YouTube. Once I did it they way he suggests, I successfully made 2 starters with no problems!
