How often should I clean and lube the chain? I know it depends on how much i ride, so I ride pretty regularly going about 30 min to work and back on nice days, and do some 1-2 hour rides occasionally.

least favorite part of owning chain drive 😭 loved having a shaft drive but there's a noticeable amount of "lash". I currently have 2 chain bikes and one with a belt!

If you don't want to get absolutely raked over the coals for consumable cost use kerosene to clean the chain and gear oil to lube it. A gallon of kerosene and quart of gear oil will last you a while

as a heads up, kerosene is WAY cheaper as a cleaner, works REALLY well and is the recommended cleaner by most manufacturers. also, if your chain rusts after being in the rain one time, you're dry

I won't spend half my life...cleaning my chain! kerosene and 30 cheap car oil is the best for me and only 5 minutes!

I've heard that using a solvent washes out any grease from factory in sealed modern chains, and it's best to wipe and re oil instead?

just did this! got caught in a big rain storm a week back, chain was screaming for a cleaning. so satisfying how easily it rolls around after a good clean n lube.
