I had a cracked rim.they welded it.. this is the same thing.cost 225 cad. wheels are worth about a thousand dollars.

Never weld aluminum wheels! I had it done on a small crack and it was repaired right and worked fine for two weeks then exploded. Almost killed me and other people. It will not hold!!!

used to work at a scrap yard . it's done more so for liability reasons. if they sold the wheels deemed as scrap and a customer had an accident because a flaw in the wheel they could be liable.
