@hedgerow_healing: Almost a year has passed since I picked up one of my most unique finds! I was camping with a group of friends on the Dorset coast over August Bank Holiday, and me being me I went off raiding the hedgerows and cliff edges for interesting and natural items. Not only did I come back with armfulls of wheat, elderberry, twisted hazel, and four leafed clovers, but I also picked up this knife... At the time I believed it to just be a rusty knife, and I picked it up origionally to move it out of harms way. However, on closer inspection I realised the whole thing was made from shale, which is a type of rock that frequents the Dorset coastline. Now, this knife is sculpted in a way which looks exactly like a modern knife, yet there seems to be no recent signs of knapping or carving. It is also incredibly sharp, and could definitely be used to cut a fish or two open. I have sent pictures of this knife to archaeologists and experts of pre-history, and opinion is divided. Some believe it to instantly be natural (which I find difficult to agree with) and others think it may come from as far back as the Neolithic period. I need your help here guys, what do you think? Is it natural? Is it prehistoric, or from the last decade?
