Do you drink bone broth!? Bone broth is one of my all time superfoods. It is high in collagen which means it's great for your nails, hair, skin and gut and can also help with the pain of osteoarthritis. Plus it's so easy to make! You will also save so much money by making it yourself. Pre-made bone broth is so expensive! Here is my basic bone broth recipe: Ingredients: - Bones - you can use a chicken carcass or beef soup bones (I prefer beef bones as I like the flavour better) - Chicken feet - these are optional but they help add even more cartilage (and hence collagen) Water - Fresh ginger (I add about 5cm peeld and chopped into pieces) - Bay leaves (I add 10-15) - Sea salt (to taste) - 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar - this is very important! This helps leach the vitamins and minerals from the bones so do not omit it from the recipe - You can add other ingredients such as onion, turmeric, garlic and other herbs or spices Directions: 1. Place everything in your slow cooker or crockpot 2. Heat on high heat for at least 8 hours (I usually do 24 hours) 3. Enjoy! I prefer to use bones from pasture raised chickens and grass fed and grass finished beef for the most health benefits as well as the ethical treatment of the animals.
