Fatally injured soldiers refuse treatment. They sacrifice themselves so those who can fight another day can be treated first. The paramedic ants disinfect wounds with antibiotics and clean and feed the injured. It's a powerful strategy, nearly a quarter of their armies are made of amputees, and the medics ensure that the strongest soldiers can fight another day.
