@angelaoosterling: Valuable or insignificant? What do you think? @angelaoosterling 🪄For me serving is part of the food experience. It’s not just about the food or drink itself, but about the social interactions, hospitality, and the feelings of respect and appreciation that accompany “the act of serving or hosting”. ❤️🔥However, I personally LOVE to see when a group of friends each take turns - so, your friends reciprocate by pouring/serving you food and drinks too. 🤯I believe this mutual exchange is a key part of the social interaction and is a way of showing mutual appreciation and respect. 🥹A social ritual that strengthens bonds. 🥹Taking care of each other. 🌎In many cultures serving yourself last is often seen as a sign of good manners, respect, and hospitality. ⭐️The 2 main reasons would be: 1. It’s a way of expressing that your guests are more important than your own immediate needs. This way you show respect and consideration 2. Another great reason is to ensure fair distribution. If the bottle runs out, it’s more gracious for the host (so you) to go without rather than a guest. ❓But tell me:
what do you do when having dinner or drinks in a small group? I’m curious to learn about cultural differences. 🤗PS: Follow me @angelaoosterling for more stories and insight about food experiences 📍Venue in this video: @hokkai_kitchen ———————— #hospitality #omotenashi #sashimi #chef #foodvlog #amsterdamfoodguide #japanese #gaultmillau #finedining #Foodie #japanesefood #sushi #gastronomy #foodblogger #foodies #foodiefinds #michelin #dutchfoodies #amsterdamfoodies #hosting #amsterdamguide #wine #finediningamsterdam #culinair #sommelier #wheretoeatthenetherlands #finedining #culinair #culinary #sake #tablemanners
