we changed to nails and fasteners because it was faster, not stronger. it was the start of the fast paced society and now you realize that sometimes somethings are better when done properly.

mortis and tenon can last hundreds of years but requires more time and skill and material. Nails are cheaper, easier, and quicker, and require less lumber. But they are less sturdy and long lasting.

The Amish did the framing of our last home. When my dad was helping me hang pictures for a large gallery wall, he said it was the most squarely built house he’d ever seen- they are true craftsmen 💛
