@love2hvac: Great Question! Why do some people have few TXV failures and some have many? Several reasons! They have been around since the days of Willis Carrier so it's not new technology. The big issue started around 2013/2014 when a major compressor manufacture used a rust inhibitor that reacted with POE oil and it gummed up TXV's. This led to class action lawsuits and LOTS of TXV failures!!! It then just became a shortcut to replace the TXV then a habit that was taught to the people entering the trade. Bad habits are easily learned. Then we have improper diagnostics. People condemn them based on suction pressure alone. Next is contamination such as oxidation, dirt debris, copper shavings, foreign matter. Improper vacuum leaves moisture that can freeze inside a system but causes acid with low oil. that eats away copper that can clog the TXV or the acid can directly damage the TXV. wax can even be in the system. overheating from brazing can damage the superheat spring, the metering pin, the seal inside or the lower head. Overheating the suction side can over pressure the sensing bulb and damage the lower head. The transmission tube can run a hole when it's not properly mounted. and they can just rust out. these are the main reasons.#hvac #love2hvac #TXV
