You can still have burial plot with a headstone if you want. My in-laws were both cremated and buried in a single grave. My husband and I and his brother and his wife will join them when it’s our turn

We’re Catholic, so cremains have to be buried or in a moselium. Both my parents are buried in a park-like cemetery. I like having a place to visit them 🥰

There are things called a columbarium in some cemeteries in many churches that urns can be put and marked as that person

You can plant a tree with the ashes and the tree would be a memorial in your own yard you can see it every day.

The mortuary took a little of the ashes out for keepsake jewelry and the rest was buried with a tombstone to visit.
