Well to be fair the transmission will need to be rebuilt before the belt needs changed anyway…

That 100k change interval of that belt was the number one reason why I talked my father out of buying anything with the 3.0 duramax

I’d rather have the 3.0 Duramax that gets 28mpg then a 5.3 or 6.2 that drops lifters and scalds the cam shaft.

yes, I researched this before hand 150k mile life on timing belt. I've heard cab cab is removed as well. I'm now getting 42.2mpg on 50 mile average. ROI seems fair when diesel is same price as premium

With today's shop rates, and repair costs, buy new and trade off before warranty is up. Pay it in interest or pay it in repair bills and be married to it

Gm moved the service interval to 200,000 on the newer ones and the belts the same part number as the old. Besides that the chances of these trucks making it to 150-200k on the original trans are slim

But 100k powertrain warranty recommended belt replacement 150k. Pulled trailers every day with mine averaged 19.6 over 42k miles zero problems

At 200k, all my 5.3s had lifter issues. I’ll live with changing the belt . It’s been a wonderful engine. So when the transmission goes out I’ll just replace it then. Not arguing or disagreeing
