@conradxmorgan: In the past month we have seen a shift in the current systems that bring this debris from the North Pacific Gyre to our shores here in Hawaiʻi. Lots of people have started to take notice and many have voiced concern about people dumping trash off of our shores. The reality is that this plastic debris has been in the ocean but the currents had been missing our islands. Now, with a shift in these currents, we’re seeing it come to our shores. This gives us the opportunity to both clean it up and to educate our communites on the issue of plastic pollution and socialize action to make change upstream in the flow of plastic production and consumption.
