The ER report always starts like “so I’m not their nurse but I’ll give you a quick report” like why is that ok???? EVERY TIME????

My organization doesn’t give report from ED to the floor now! We’re supposed to look up all the info and get a “15 minute warning” when transport is bringing the patient up

We’re not supposed to take admissions at shift change and I got one the other day at 655 and my manager was there and didn’t say a word 😡

I’ve always been confused on this because I thought it was obligatory to give report by law. I guess hospitals just dgaf. I’ve had pts code within 30 minutes of being dropped off and I work on MS. Rare, but it happens.

had a patient last night. I'm just a tech. the nurse from a stand-alone ER called and said patients on their way and then hung up the phone. The charge called back and said I want report.

I have waited hours to get a pt upstairs after the room was ready. We would move a pt to a hallway to run an ems code in the room. I have heard every excuse for the floor to not do their job.

As a traveler, I’m seeing this more and more often. I even got a patient transferred from another FACILITY with no report!! I ended up having to call a rapid on the patient as soon as they arrived 😒

What happens when ER nurse gives report but Pt doesn’t arrive on the floor til hrs later Who’s responsible for Pt during those hours of waiting for transport since report releases a nurse

Recently ED dropped off a happy/smiling 9mo old who looked too well for ICU. But bc I had a great report from ED we knew exactly what was going on when she nearly coded from septic shock 1 min later

I've been working with the "no report" policy for a while so I'm used to it. We get 20min. I only hate when they drop the patient off between 7 - 7:30 while you're getting report.

This exact thing happened to me. L&D dumped a fresh c/s patient off at 0600. I get there at 0645, night shift had just realized a patient was left for them. That patient ended up being my patient that

Can you please provide a link or resource to this in the board of nursing. Our hospital is developing the policy of just sending the pt up, apparently the nurse can call whenever and still receive

In my old facility there’s a policy where if ER calls twice and the floor nurse can’t be reached the charge has to take report and the patient until the floor nurse becomes available

I was a PCT in the ER. We weren’t allowed to move the patient until the ER nurse gave report to the floor nurse. Once that happened, the er nurse had me get a last set of vitals and then take the pt.
