@mablespaws: PS I break down how to do these things, as well as how to master the first 7 days with your new puppy in my FREE new puppy training. 🏃‍♀️ to my b!0 to grab it Ok let’s get into this👇🏻 1️⃣ Before you even get your puppy, IF you’re getting them from a breeder, ask the breeder to keep a blanket or toy by the puppy’s mom, that they send home with you when you pick your puppy up We’ll use this in the crate specifically. Immediately this will associate the smell of something they find comfort in (their mama) with this new thing they’ve likely never seen before (the crate) 2️⃣Get your puppy comfortable in the crate in a variety of different situations Most people only use the crate at night, or when they leave But if you do this, later down the road if you ever try to put your puppy in the crate while you’re home and awake, they’re PISSED, and will make it known, and you won’t be able to get anything done (don’t say I didn’t warn you 👀) So get your puppy comfortable in the crate by doing crate games in various situations, and by doing naps while you’re home, out of the home, etc (I break down exactly how to do these in the free training. Run to my b!0 to grab it) 3️⃣Praise your puppy while they’re IN the crate, not running out of it This is one of the biggest mistakes I see puppy owners make As the puppy is running out of the crate, they’re praising “YES, good job, you did so good”, and I get it, they’re your baby. BUT we want all of the praise, love, excitement to be with them being IN the crate, not running out of it Now 4️⃣ take a deep breath You’re ready to give this 100% and highly motivated to train your puppy So let’s simplify the first 7 days To learn not only how to crate train your puppy week one, but ALSO how to master the first 7 days with them, run to the 🔗 in my b!0 to grab the training
