The clinical truth behind these 8 phrases: •
The clinical truth behind these 8 phrases: • "That never happened, you're imagining it": Makes you question your own memory. When you hear this often, you start checking yourself instead of the situation. • "You're too sensitive, it's not that deep": Dismisses your feelings to avoid accountability. Your reaction is labeled the problem, not the behavior. • "You always make things up": Attacks your credibility, not the issue. It shifts focus from what happened to whether you can be believed. • "I was just joking, why are you so serious?": Uses humor to cover hurtful behavior. If you react, you are told you cannot take a joke. • "Everyone thinks you're crazy": Isolates you by claiming others agree with them. It makes you feel alone and less likely to ask for support. • "You're remembering it wrong": Rewrites history to control the narrative. Over time you may stop trusting your own recall. • "If you really loved me, you'd trust me": Turns your concern into a test of love. A boundary becomes proof you do not care enough. • "You're the problem, not me": Reverses victim and offender to escape blame. This is often called DARVO, deny, attack, reverse victim and offender. If these phrases feel familiar and they leave you feeling confused, anxious, or unsafe, consider talking to someone you trust or a mental health professional. You do not have to sort this alone. Which number have you heard before? Comment 1 to 8. Naming it is how you stop blaming yourself. Save this to name it, not to blame yourself. Share it so someone else can see the pattern too. #Gaslighting #Part2 #ClinicalPsychology #EmotionalAbuse #PsychologyFacts #DARVO #Boundaries #MentalHealthAwareness #HouseOfPsychologyFacts
