Sometimes even if they are perfect with you, that can change very quickly in a veterinary setting. Best to use a muzzle if someone is uncomfortable! Muzzles don’t mean that your dog is mean/bad!

As vet staff if they’re doing this with your dog it’s usually because it has tried to get them at previous visits. We don’t muzzle animals that aren’t cautions, just adds patient stress.

we have a mini bull terrier who comes to board with us where i work and she’s afraid of walking on the floors 💀 so we have to carry her

it's important to remember that even if your dog isn't known to be aggressive at home, dogs are unpredictable, especially in situations they aren't fond of (blood draws, injections, etc.)

Every owner believes “my dog would never”. But when they are sick, afraid, or in pain, that can change - and I don’t blame them. But I will do what I need to do to stay safe while caring for them.

i told them to muzzle my chihuahua mix because idk how she would react getting her glands drained. they have a right to feel safe at work, and it doesn’t hurt my dog 🤷♀️

They do this with my poodle too. It got to the point where I muzzle trained her at home. She’s never once gone at someone aggressively

We had a dog at work literally yesterday that the owner didn’t want to muzzle but was lunging at us even if we were multiple feet away.

As a vet tech can I say Iv heard oh they don’t but then I start my exam and they try and bit😭i don’t really like muzzles but if I have a gut feeling im goin with it and if they do good itcan come off
