Ive done 100s and this is my all time fav ⬇️ If you’ve you’ve been following along my adventures you know I’ve explored all the must see trails in the Bay Area and beyond. In fact, I’ve done 59 hikes in California so far just in 2024. Amongst all of these, this one ranks as my all time favorite! PSA: I’ve launched a new substack platform for group hikes, content creation tips, and more (including the secret waterfall featured) - link in bio! I’ve hiked this loop at least 6 times in 18 years living in the Bay and each time I find a new secret offshoot or something special. There are multiple routes and loops to do here, so regardless of your skill level, if you only had time for one hike in California, it really needs to be this one. Your trail guide: 🥾 Trail: Steep Ravine, Dipsea and Matt Davis Trail 🅿️ Fee: Free either at Stinson beach or on Belvedere Ave (behind the fire station). GET THERE EARLY   📅 Best times to visit: Now with waterfalls flowing but this is a great year-round spot 📏 Difficulty: moderate. 7.5-8 miles depending on which route you go 🏔️ Elevation: 1770 ft for this route 🤫 spot: There’s a hidden waterfall accessible from this trail. Join my substack (link in bio) for a custom map that guides you here. 👧 👦 friendly: Ok, this is one where you push your kids a little. I did it with both my kids and I think it’s doable for 6+ without needing to be carried. Bring sugar, snacks, and other motivating tactics ♿️: Not ADA accessible 🚽 facilities: at Stinson Beach 🦮 Friendly: No dogs, although they are allowed at nearby Stinson beach (not the NPS portion) 🕶️ Shade: Combo of fully shaded and exposed spots 🛂 Tips: I recommend getting to the trail head before 9. There’s some amazing views of the Pacific Ocean via Matt Davis trail. Then after, there’s some spots you can view the golden gate. Use Pantoll Campground as a lunch/break spot or finish your route at Stinson beach. This trail has a taste of everything: redwoods, waterfalls, views, beach, and more - it really doesn’t get any better than this! 🗑️: always remember to leave no trace and explore responsibly! 🙏: Follow @outdoorwiseliving for more trail guides
