I see my residents as bonus grandparents even on my skilled side.. I get to know them and some I can joke with and some we just talk.. but in my eyes they are bonus grandparents

I 100% do this in long term care. I do in in acute care too.. I love everyone I take care of. Even the mean ones, I am sure they have a story that made them who they are.

Initially. Very professionally!! And then observe closely how it goes. Love my LTC residents. I believe we have a great relationship. I never lie and always keep my word. ❤️❤️now banter and laugh ❤️

100%. I worked in a jail until recently.I always tried to connect with them as people. there was mutual respect and they always knew I was going to take care of them. A lot of them I could joke w/ 2.

I walked into a residents room daughter goes “oh our angel!” turns the resident around and the resident goes “OH HONEY!! come here!!” and gave me a big hug 😭🩷 forever patient centered care!
